Awake and Alive Tour featuring The Letter Black, Red, and Skillet
On May 9, 2010, the “Alive and Awake” tour made its way to Topeka, Kan. Their presences at the Kansas Expocentre will not easily be forgotten.
The first band to take the stage was The Letter Black, a band signed by Tooth and Nail Records, who surprised many who had never previously heard of them. “ That first band impressed me a lot. Following The Letter Black, Grammy nominated band Red took the stage and continued the streak of astounding music for the night. Bassist Randy Armstrong made the show a little more personal for the crowd by shooting web video of the fans. During the last song he found his way out to the crowd and played the last seconds of the show among fans.
Red is a four-piece band made up of Michael Barnes-Vocals, Anthony Armstrong-Guitarist, Randy Armstrong-Bass, and Joe Rickard-Drums. Anthony and Randy are twin brothers.

The headline of the show , Skillet, entered the stage accompanied with blasting pillars of water and fog, starting their set with stunning theatrics and sound. The music that poured from the stage shook your insides and you could feel exactly what the music was portraying. Lead singer John cooper expressed viewpoints throughout the show, getting the crowd hyped about peoples struggle for their soul. "Everyday when we wake up there is a war going on and I'm not taking about a war in Iraq or Afghanistan. I'm taking about the war for our souls," Cooper said. Skillet is a four piece band consiting of John Cooper-Bass/Vocals, Korey Cooper-Guitar/Keys, Ben Kasica-Guitar, and Jen Ledger-Drums.
